The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has called upon Muslims across the country to begin searching for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on Monday. This announcement was made by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, in a statement released on Sunday.
According to the statement, Monday, 8th April, 2024, which corresponds to the 29th day of Ramadan 1445 AH, marks the day to begin the search for the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH. Muslims are urged to keep an eye out for the new moon on Monday and report its sighting to the nearest district or village head for further communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto.
The sighting of the new moon on Monday will signal the end of the month-long Ramadan fast observed by Muslim faithful in the country.
