Akwa Ibom Opposition Parties Denounce PDP’s Claim of 37,874 Defectors

In Akwa Ibom State, major opposition parties are pushing back against the Peoples Democratic Party’s claim of receiving nearly 38,000 defectors. The opposition parties, including the All Progressives Congress, Young Peoples Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party, are calling out the PDP for what they see as a misleading tactic to gain political advantage.

The PDP recently announced at an event in Uyo that over 37,000 members of opposition parties had joined their ranks. However, the opposition parties are refuting this claim, stating that the numbers are exaggerated and unbelievable.

OtoAbasi Udo, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, expressed skepticism about the PDP’s announcement, suggesting that the party is desperate for new members and is inflating the numbers to create a false impression of momentum. Udo emphasized that the APC is focused on strengthening its position in the state and is gearing up to challenge the PDP in the upcoming elections.

According to Udo, the spectacle at the Ibom Hall Grounds was nothing more than a facade, designed to deceive the people of Akwa Ibom. He urged residents not to be swayed by the PDP’s claims and reassured them that the opposition parties are united in their commitment to bringing about positive change in the state.

As the political landscape in Akwa Ibom continues to evolve, the battle between the PDP and opposition parties is heating up. With accusations flying and tensions rising, the future of the state hangs in the balance. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
