Emirates Airline Set to Resume Operations in Nigeria by June 2024

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, recently announced that Emirates Airline is gearing up to resume operations in Nigeria by June 2024. This exciting development comes after a period of strained relations between the two countries, which have now been successfully resolved.

Keyamo revealed this news during an interview on Arise Television, where he credited President Bola Tinubu for his pivotal role in facilitating the reconciliation between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates. He mentioned that the UAE airline has confirmed its readiness to restart flight operations in Nigeria and is in the process of finalizing the details for their return.

In a letter sent by Emirates Airline, they expressed their eagerness to resume flights to Nigeria and assured that all necessary preparations have been made. Keyamo emphasized that restarting a route requires careful planning, including securing an aircraft for the specific route, which the airline is currently working on.

This announcement follows Keyamo’s previous discussions with Emirates Airlines representatives after the Dubai Airshow in November 2023. The minister highlighted that the airline is now in the final stages of preparation and will soon announce the official date for the resumption of their flights to Nigeria.

Keyamo expressed his gratitude for the efforts made in resolving the issues that led to the suspension of Emirates Airline’s operations in Nigeria in October 2022. The airline had cited challenges in repatriating funds from Nigeria as the reason for the temporary halt in their services.

With the successful resolution of these issues, Emirates Airline is now poised to make a comeback to the Nigerian market, much to the delight of travelers and aviation enthusiasts. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the date for their much-anticipated return, expected to be before June 2024.
