The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State has emerged victorious in the local government election held by the State Independent Electoral Commission. The PDP secured the chairmanship position in all eight local government areas and claimed victory in all 105 councillorship positions, as announced by the commission in Yenagoa.

The All Progressives Congress, the major opposition party in the state, chose not to participate in the election, leading to a clear path for the PDP to dominate the polls.

In Yenagoa LGA, Buloudisiye Ndiwari was declared the winner with an impressive 56,103 votes. In Sagbama LGA, Alice Tangi emerged victorious with 51,543 votes. Golden Jeremiah secured the win in Ogbia LGA with 42,462 votes, while Target Segibo claimed victory in Southern Ijaw LGA with 36,326 votes.

David Alagoa, the former Commissioner for Agriculture, triumphed in Nembe LGA with 11,829 votes. Lelei Tariye emerged as the winner in Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA with 27,823 votes. Onniye Isaac secured victory in Ekeremor LGA with 35,177 votes, and Febo Lucky of the PDP was declared the winner in Brass LGA.

The PDP’s sweeping success in the local government election showcases their strong hold in Bayelsa State, solidifying their position as the leading political party in the region. The results reflect the support and confidence of the electorate in the party’s leadership and vision for the state’s development.

Overall, the election results highlight the PDP’s dominance in Bayelsa State and set the stage for continued political stability and progress in the region.
