The newly appointed deputy governor of Edo State, Omobayo Godwins, has made a commitment to work harmoniously with Governor Godwin Obaseki until the end of the governor’s term in 2024.
In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Godwins expressed his willingness to follow Obaseki’s lead and carry out his directives without any power struggle. He emphasized his dedication to learning and growing in his role as deputy governor, stating that he will focus on leveraging his strengths to add value to the administration.
Godwins, who assumed the position after the impeachment of Philip Shaibu by the Edo State House of Assembly, highlighted the importance of cooperation and unity in governance. The impeachment followed an investigation into allegations of misconduct and perjury against Shaibu, led by Justice S. A. Omonua (retd).
During the impeachment proceedings, eighteen out of the twenty lawmakers present voted in favor of Shaibu’s removal, underscoring the political dynamics at play in the state.
As Godwins embarks on his new role, he remains committed to supporting Governor Obaseki’s vision and contributing positively to the development of Edo State. His approach reflects a sense of humility and a willingness to collaborate for the greater good.
By embracing his responsibilities with a spirit of cooperation and dedication, Godwins sets a positive example for aspiring leaders and underscores the importance of unity in governance.
