Members of the All Progressives Congress, Etsako West Chapter in Delta State, took to the streets on Tuesday to voice their opposition to the rumored return of the impeached deputy governor, Philip Shaibu, to the party.

Hailing from the 12 wards in the council area, the protesters marched to the party secretariat to deliver a petition against Shaibu’s potential comeback. Speaking on behalf of the APC stakeholders in Etsako West LGA, Yakubu Musa emphasized that Shaibu’s departure from the APC in 2020 had brought about peace and harmony within the party. However, they feared that his return could reignite discord and division.

Musa expressed grave concerns over Shaibu’s alleged attempt to defect back to the APC, labeling it as a deliberate ploy to sow seeds of conflict and crisis within the party. He urged key party figures such as the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and State Acting Chairman, Jaret Tenebe, to block Shaibu’s reentry, citing his lack of political significance and electoral success since leaving the APC for the PDP.

The stakeholders made a passionate plea to the party’s leadership, emphasizing the need to preserve the current state of peace within the Edo APC. They warned that readmitting Shaibu could spell disaster, leading to internal strife, fragmentation, and disillusionment among party members.

In a united front, the protesters stood firm in their resolve to maintain the integrity and unity of the APC, sending a clear message that any attempt to reintegrate Shaibu would be met with staunch resistance. The future of the party hung in the balance, as the battle to uphold its values and principles raged on.
