APC Shifts Ondo Governorship Screening to Friday: 16 Aspirants to Face Committee

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled the screening of 16 aspirants vying for the party’s ticket in the upcoming Ondo State governorship primary election to Friday. Originally set to begin on Thursday, the screening was postponed due to the extension of the Eid-el Fitr holiday by the Federal Government.

A senior official from the APC organising directorate, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed this information on Tuesday. The screening process will take place shortly after the inauguration of a seven-member Ondo Governorship Screening Committee and a five-man Screening Appeal Committee by the National Working Committee of the party at the national secretariat in Abuja.

Former Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Senator Joshua Lidani, will chair the Governorship Screening Committee, with former House of Representatives member, Bimbo Daramola, serving as the Secretary. The committee also includes Pastor Jones Erue, High Chief Second Bakor, Magaret Duru, Prof. Chukwudi Ledirick, and Hon. Abdul Rahim Balogun.

On the other hand, the five-man Screening Appeal Committee will be led by Senator Oseni Yakubu from Kogi Central District, with a former House of Representatives member as the Secretary. The committee members include Emmanuel Ekeh, Pious Idele, and Ibrahim Magaji Dosara.

All Ondo governorship aspirants have been informed about the schedule change and the importance of punctuality for the screening exercise. The screening will begin immediately after the inauguration of the committees at 9 am.

Among the 16 aspirants who purchased nomination forms are Governor Lucky Ayiedatiwa, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, Olusola Oke, Prof. Francis Faduyile, Dr. Funmi Waheed-Adekojo, and Isaac Kekemeke. Other aspirants include Akinfolarin Samuel, Olusoji Ehinlanwo, Okunjimi Odimayo, Adewale Akinterinwa, Olugbenga Edema, Gen. Ohunyeye Olamide, Morayo Lebi, Garvey Oladiran Iyanjan, and Ifeoluwa Oyedele.
