Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has taken a significant step towards improving infrastructure in Kontagora, as he recently broke ground on a series of road projects in the area. These projects, totaling 118 km in length, are part of the governor’s urban renewal initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity and promoting development in the region.
The road projects include the reconstruction of the 90 km Kontagora-Rijau Road, the construction of a 19.4 km Kontagora Western bypass ring road, and an 8.7 km Kontagora Eastern bypass ring road. These projects are set to be carried out by reputable construction companies, Triacta Nigeria Ltd and Brosini Nigeria Ltd.
Governor Bago emphasized the importance of road infrastructure in driving development and ensuring the safety of road users. He highlighted that his administration is currently working on a total of 1,000 km of road projects across the state, with 400 km designated as federal roads. The governor’s commitment to improving road networks is aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by citizens and promoting economic growth in the region.
In addition to the Kontagora projects, the state has also secured approval for the reconstruction of the Kakkaki-Minna Road and the Rofia-Borgu Road, further demonstrating the government’s dedication to enhancing transportation infrastructure in Niger State.
Key stakeholders, including Senator Abubakar Sani Bello and Speaker AbdulMalik Sarkin Daji, praised Governor Bago’s urban renewal efforts, noting that the road projects will stimulate development and facilitate commerce in Kontagora. The Commissioner for Works, Suleiman Umar, highlighted the governor’s vision to position Niger State as a hub for economic activity, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents.
The Emir of Kontagora, Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, expressed optimism that the road projects will spur growth and development within the local communities under the Kontagora Emirate, enhancing connectivity and meeting the needs of the populace.
