Sudanese Armed Forces and RSF Clash in El Gezira: Violent Battles Continue

Violent clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued in El Gezira, with reports of ongoing battles in various areas of El Gedaref. Military aircraft strikes were reported, with conflicting reports from both sides.

Pro-army social media pages shared videos of their entry into Medina Arab, only to leave shortly after. Accusations of the SAF withdrawing from battles in El Gedaref were also made.

Rebel forces, including the Sudan Liberation Movement and Justice and Equality Movement, are supporting the SAF in their fight against the RSF. Limited offensive operations were conducted in El Gezira, with clashes reported on roads leading to Wad Madani.

Drones targeted SAF locations, causing minimal damage. The RSF claimed to have repelled an attack in El Faw, inflicting heavy losses on the army. Reports of civilian casualties and displacement were also mentioned.

Citizens reported looting and violations by the RSF, with shortages of medical supplies in hospitals. The RSF has been in control of El Gezira since December, with ongoing conflicts causing civilian suffering.

US Special Envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, condemned the violence, highlighting civilian casualties and displacement. The situation in Sudan continues to escalate, with civilians bearing the brunt of the conflict.
