Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, has announced that Victor Boniface is now fully recovered from his injury, according to a report by Media Talk Africa.
After being sidelined for three months due to an adductor injury, Boniface made his return to the pitch last week. The 23-year-old forward made two substitute appearances in matches against Fortuna Dusseldorf and Union Berlin.
Alonso expressed his confidence in Boniface’s fitness, hinting that he may even make his first start of the year in Bayer Leverkusen’s upcoming UEFA Europa League game against West Ham United on Thursday night.
“Adam Hlozek is currently injured, so Matej will be in goal. Boniface is fully fit and ready to play, so there’s a possibility he could start tomorrow,” the Spanish manager revealed during a press conference.
The Nigerian international has been in fine form in the Europa League this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in just five appearances for Die Werkself.
With Boniface back in action, Bayer Leverkusen fans can look forward to seeing their star player back on the field and making an impact in the team’s quest for success in the Europa League.
