Dangote Group Aims for Self-Sufficiency in Nigeria Across Various Sectors

During the 35th Enugu International Trade Fair, Dr. Abayomi Shittu, the South East Regional Director of Dangote Cement, emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in all sectors of its investment. Dangote’s industrial strategy of Production, Prosperity, Power, and Pride reflects its dedication to Nigeria’s and Africa’s economic development.

As a major sponsor of the Enugu International Trade Fair, Dangote Group aligns with this year’s theme of “Promoting Made in Nigeria Products for Global Competitiveness.” Through its extensive investments in various sectors, the group adds value to raw materials, transforming them into finished products and creating linkages that connect the entire economy while promoting backward integration.

Industrialization plays a crucial role in diversifying the economy, and Dangote Group’s focus on creating value for all stakeholders drives its investment decisions. The group aims to achieve self-sufficiency in sectors such as cement, agriculture, mining, and oil & gas. Notably, Dangote Cement has played a significant role in making Nigeria self-sufficient in cement production and even exports to other countries.

The multiplier effect of Dangote Cement extends beyond economic benefits, providing direct and indirect employment to millions across Africa. The company’s impact is evident in the construction of schools, hospitals, roads, markets, and vocational training centers in host communities.

The ongoing consolidation of Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dangote Salt, NASCON Allied Industries, and Dangote Rice has contributed to the country’s economic growth. Milestones such as the two-year anniversary of Dangote Fertiliser’s commissioning and the commencement of operations at Dangote Petroleum Refinery demonstrate the group’s commitment to enhancing the economy.

To support youth employment and skill development, Dangote Group strategically recruits graduates in engineering and technology-driven fields, providing comprehensive training in industrial operations. The participation in the Trade Fair aims to raise awareness of innovative products, drive sales, attract prospective buyers, enhance brand image, and explore new markets for job creation and economic development.

President of ECCIMA, Odeiga Jideonwo, commended Dangote Group for its continuous support and sponsorship of the trade fair. The transition from bronze to gold sponsorship reflects the group’s commitment to the region. The Dangote Refinery is expected to address challenges related to the availability and cost of refined petroleum products, further showcasing the group’s impact on job creation and entrepreneurship across Africa.
