The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has made a heartfelt appeal to President Bola Tinubu and Sen. Ireti Kingibe, representing the FCT, to step in and address the demolition of a 214-hectare Asokoro Estate owned by former Rep. member, Nicholas Ukachukwu. The demolition has sparked controversy and left occupants in a state of disarray.
Vincent Ezekwueme, the Chairman of CLO in Anambra, emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling for the restoration of normalcy, justice, and peace. He highlighted the need for President Tinubu to intervene as a father figure of the nation, to ensure justice, peace, and the restoration of trust, hope, and confidence in the government.
Hon. Ukachukwu, described as a patriot, statesman, and detribalised Nigerian, has made significant contributions to the country through his investments in various zones. The CLO boss stressed the importance of supporting and commending individuals like Ukachukwu who are actively addressing housing challenges in the FCT and its surroundings.
It is crucial for the government to hold officials accountable for their actions and not penalize genuine investors who have followed due process. Failure to halt the demolition could worsen housing challenges in the FCT and beyond, affecting the entire community.
In conclusion, the CLO urges President Tinubu to prioritize justice, peace, and an amicable resolution to the crisis, emphasizing that the repercussions of the demolition will be felt by all. It is a call for compassion, understanding, and responsible governance in the face of adversity.
