The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State, Stanley Okoro Emegha, has announced plans for a befitting burial for the late Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu. Dr. Onu, who served as the first civilian Governor of the old Abia State, was a key figure in the formation and growth of the APC in Nigeria.
Speaking in Abakaliki, Emegha praised Dr. Onu’s contributions to the party and the country, emphasizing his role in winning elections and nurturing the party to its current level of success. He expressed deep sadness at the unexpected news of Dr. Onu’s passing, noting that his long battle with illness made the loss even more poignant.
Emegha assured that both the state and federal levels of the APC would come together to ensure a fitting farewell for Dr. Onu. He extended condolences to President Buhari, the National Working Committee of the Party, and Dr. Onu’s family, promising to honor his legacy as a respected party member and former government official.
As preparations for the burial begin, Emegha emphasized the importance of giving Dr. Onu the respect he deserves, not only as a party leader but also as a significant figure in the history of Abia State and the country as a whole. The entire nation, he declared, would pay tribute to Dr. Onu’s service and dedication.
