Bobrisky Admits to Being a Man Before Sentenced to Prison for Naira Abuse

Controversial social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, made a shocking revelation before being sentenced to prison. Bobrisky, who has gained fame for his flamboyant lifestyle, admitted to being a man when questioned by the Judge.

According to a report by Media Talk Africa, Bobrisky was handed a six-month prison sentence without the option of a fine for his involvement in the abuse of the Nigerian currency, the Naira. The Judge, before pronouncing the sentence, directly asked Bobrisky about his gender, to which he promptly responded, “I am a man.”

Following the verdict, Bobrisky was remanded to serve his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, with the sentence set to begin from March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest. Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos, who presided over the case, emphasized the importance of deterring others from engaging in similar acts of currency abuse and mutilation.

Bobrisky’s conviction came after he pleaded guilty to a four-count charge of Naira abuse filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The charges included instances where Bobrisky was accused of mishandling amounts of N400,000 at Imax Circle Mall in Jakande, Lekki; N50,000 at Aja Junction in Ikorodu; N20,000 at White Steve Event Hall in Ikeja; and another N20,000 at an event hall in Oniru, Victoria Island, spanning between 2022 and 2023.

This case serves as a reminder of the consequences of financial misconduct and the importance of upholding the integrity of the national currency. Bobrisky’s admission and subsequent sentencing have sparked discussions on social media, with many expressing their views on the matter. As the story continues to unfold, it highlights the intersection of fame, controversy, and legal accountability in today’s digital age.
