Pep Guardiola hints at dropping tired Rodri from Manchester City starting XI

Manchester City’s manager, Pep Guardiola, has suggested that he may make a change to his starting lineup by dropping Rodri. This decision comes after their intense 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League, where Rodri openly admitted to feeling “tired”.

In a post-match interview, the Spanish midfielder acknowledged the need for improvement, stating, “Every one of us can do better, even myself, but we need to rest to be honest. I do. I do need a rest.” Guardiola addressed Rodri’s comments during a press conference on Friday, emphasizing that if a player is not in the right condition to play, they will not be forced to do so.

The Manchester City boss explained, “If a player doesn’t want to play, he’s not going to play. If he’s tired, feel exhausted, it can happen – another player is going to play. I will have to rest central defenders but we don’t have them. We cannot rest.”

Guardiola’s remarks suggest that he is open to rotating his squad to ensure that players are fresh and at their best for upcoming matches. This decision highlights the manager’s commitment to maintaining the team’s performance levels and prioritizing the well-being of his players.

As Manchester City continues to compete on multiple fronts, Guardiola’s strategic approach to squad management will be crucial in their pursuit of success in both domestic and European competitions. Stay tuned to see how this potential lineup change unfolds in the team’s upcoming fixtures.
