Barbara Banda Promoted to Staff Sergeant for Leading Zambia to 2024 Olympics

Barbara Banda, the fearless captain of the Copper Queens, has been honored with a promotion to Staff Sergeant in the Zambian Army. This prestigious recognition comes as a result of her outstanding performance in leading Zambia to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

In a thrilling match against Morocco, Banda showcased her exceptional skills by scoring two crucial goals to secure a 2-0 victory for her team. The first goal came in the 39th minute, setting the tone for Zambia’s comeback after trailing 2-1 in the first leg. As the game went into extra time, Banda once again proved her worth by converting a penalty in the 105th minute, sealing the Copper Queens’ ticket to Paris 2024.

Not only was Banda recognized for her remarkable contributions, but goalkeeper Ngambo Musole, who made several crucial saves during the match, was also promoted to Staff Sergeant. Additionally, teammates Racheal Nachula and Anita Mulenga received the same honor for their dedication and performance on the field.
