APC Sets Up Governorship Screening Committee for Ondo Primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a significant step in the preparation for the upcoming Ondo state governorship election by setting up a seven-man Governorship Screening Committee. This committee, inaugurated by the party’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, in Abuja, is tasked with screening aspirants ahead of the primary scheduled for April 20.

Duru emphasized the importance of diligence, discipline, and friendliness in conducting the screening process, urging the committee members to work tirelessly to meet the deadline. He also mentioned that the Appeal Committee would immediately follow the screening process.

The committee, led by former Deputy Governor of Gombe, Mr Joshua Lidani, with former house of representatives member Bimbo Daramola as Secretary, is responsible for evaluating the 16 aspirants who have purchased the party’s Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the primaries.

In a statement to the press, Duru highlighted the mandatory nature of the screening process as per the party’s constitution. He expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to carry out their duties effectively and wished them success in their endeavors.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the off-cycle Ondo state governorship election for November 16, adding to the significance of the screening process in determining the party’s candidate for the election.
