The Osun Amotekun Corps made a significant arrest on Friday, apprehending a 25-year-old private security guard for stealing nine air conditioners in Osogbo. The suspect, identified as Micheal Eze from Ebonyi State, was caught after selling the stolen air conditioners to scrap buyers in the capital city of Osun State.
Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), the commander of the corps, revealed that the theft was reported by the owners of the house where Eze worked as a guard in GRA, Osogbo. Eze admitted to the crime, disclosing that he sold the air conditioners, valued at N400,000 each, for a mere N5,000 per unit.
Interestingly, this was not Eze’s first offense, as he confessed to previous thefts from his employer. Fortunately, two of the stolen air conditioners were recovered from the buyers. The suspect has since been handed over to the State Security Service for further investigation and prosecution.
Adewinmbi emphasized the importance of collaboration between the public and security agencies to combat crime effectively. By providing valuable information, individuals can contribute to making the state safer and eliminating criminal activities.
