NDLEA Intercepts N3.2 Million Counterfeit Cash and Cannabis Smugglers

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made a significant bust in Lokoja, Kogi, intercepting a commercial bus carrying N3.2 million in counterfeit cash. The fake currency belonged to three suspects: Favour Peter, Esther Adukwu, and Ochigbo Michael. The trio was apprehended at Jabi park in Abuja, leading to the seizure of the counterfeit notes.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers, in collaboration with the Nigerian Navy Ship Lugard base in Lokoja, arrested Aliyu Lawal on the Lokoja-Abuja Road. Lawal was found in possession of 620 blocks of cannabis weighing 310kg. Additionally, 10 sacks of the same psychoactive substance, weighing 98kg, were seized along the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway by NDLEA operatives.

Further south, in Cross River, a 40-year-old widow and mother of two, Theodora Ita, was arrested for producing and selling a lethal New Psychoactive Substance (NPS) known as ‘Combine.’ This dangerous concoction, a mixture of cannabis and opioids soaked in raw gin, was found in 18-liter paint drums at Ita’s location in Bassey Edom, Calabar. Ita confessed to starting the illicit drug production and distribution in October 2023.

These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of the NDLEA to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse in Nigeria. Stay tuned for more updates on the agency’s relentless pursuit of justice and public safety.
