Flooding: Imo SDP Assembly candidate donates relief items

The Imo State candidate of the Social Democratic Party for the Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency in the 2023 elections, Hon. Stanley Onyiriuka, on Thursday, visited Opuoma, Abacheke, Etekuru and other Egbema communities in the state that were ravaged by flooding.

His visitation was to sympathise with the victims of the flooding and the entire people of the areas.

Onyiriuka, who felt bad about the ugly development, donated some relief items to the victims, whom he told to bear the loses while hoping on God for providence.

Regretting the unfortunate situation, Onyiriuka engaged Mr. Erickson Ijeoma, who is a former Youth Leader and Mr. Marshall Ndukwe, who he appealed to, to continue to do their best in reassuring the flood victims to push on with their lives.

Onyiriuka, therefore, called on government, relevant agencies, stakeholders, and oil companies, among others, to urgently intervene and provide adequate aid, succour and measure to mitigate the suffering of the affected communities.

He said, “The Imo State Government, the National Emergency Management Agency, including oil companies operating at Ohaji/Egbema should act very fast as to save the affected communities from hunger and starvation because the flood had displaced them from their homes as well as devastated their farmlands.”

He said some of the affected persons, including children, were yet to be evacuated to a safer ground, hence he reminded the government and NEMA of the need to fumigate the ravaged communities when the water rescinds.
