The state working committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has taken decisive action against Ward Party Leaders who attempted to suspend the National Chairman, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje. The APC Ganduje ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government had made the move to suspend Ganduje, but their actions were quickly overturned by the party’s local government officials.
In a statement to the press, the APC Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman, Inusa Dawanau, revealed that those responsible for the suspension of the National Chairman were found to be engaging in anti-party activities and had been meeting with opposition members. As a result, the state working committee of the Party has imposed a six-month suspension on the perpetrators, and a special investigations panel has been established to look into the allegations against them.
The Kano Chairman of the Party, Abdullahi Abbas, confirmed that the decisions made by the local government Party Leaders have been endorsed by the state working committee. He cited evidence of meetings between state government officials and the individuals behind the suspension of the National Chairman as justification for their suspension.
However, one of the accused party members, Halliru Gwanjo, defended their actions by stating that they had decided to suspend Ganduje from the party in response to bribery allegations leveled against him by the Kano State government.
The developments in Kano have underscored the internal tensions within the APC, as the party grapples with allegations of misconduct and internal strife. The actions taken by the state working committee serve as a reminder of the party’s commitment to upholding discipline and integrity within its ranks.
