Juventus Ordered to Pay Cristiano Ronaldo €9.8m in Owed Wages

Juventus Ordered to Pay Cristiano Ronaldo €9.8 Million in Unpaid Wages

In a recent development, an arbitration court has ruled that Italian football club Juventus must pay former star player Cristiano Ronaldo a sum of around €9.8 million ($10.46 million) in outstanding wages. The decision comes after Ronaldo, who now plays for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, claimed that he was owed approximately €19.5 million ($20.81 million) by Juventus.

The dispute between Ronaldo and Juventus stemmed from a pay cut agreement that was made during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ronaldo argued that the club had not fulfilled their end of the agreement, leading to the arbitration court’s intervention.

In response to the ruling, Juventus released a statement confirming that they are currently reviewing the decision. The arbitration tribunal found that Juventus must pay half of the amount demanded by the 39-year-old footballer, highlighting the validity of the compensation reduction agreement for the 2020/21 sporting season.

Ronaldo, who joined Juventus in August 2018, played a key role in the club’s success during his time in Italy. He helped Juventus secure two consecutive Serie A titles, an Italian Cup, and two Super Cups before departing for Manchester United in 2021.

This latest development sheds light on the complexities of player contracts and financial agreements in the world of professional football. Stay tuned for further updates as the story unfolds.
