The Nasarawa State Police Command has taken a decisive step in enforcing Executive Order No. 1 of 2024, signed by Governor Abdullahi Sule, which prohibits all ethnic vigilante groups in the state.

Commissioner of Police, CP Shehu Umar Nadada, has issued a statement through Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, directing all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Department/Tactical teams to ensure strict compliance with the ban.

Members of the disbanded groups are required to surrender all uniforms and equipment to the nearest Area Commanders or Divisional Police officers within a two-week timeframe.

The Commissioner emphasized that the activities of groups such as Kungiyar Zaman Lafia Nomad vigilante, Bassa vigilante, Eggon vigilante, and similar organizations aimed at providing security based on ethnic lines are now prohibited in Nasarawa State.

He warned that anyone caught operating or possessing prohibited firearms will face legal consequences.

This enforcement action aims to maintain peace and security in the state, ensuring that all residents are protected under the law.
