The Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN) in Bauchi State is sounding the alarm on the ongoing crisis of malnutrition in Nigeria, particularly its devastating impact on child survival. Dabis Mwaike, the Secretary of CS-SUNN, highlighted this pressing issue during a recent media briefing in Bauchi.

As CS-SUNN commemorates its 10th anniversary, Mwaike reflected on the organization’s tireless efforts to combat malnutrition in Nigeria. Through strategic partnerships with government agencies, development partners, the media, and local communities, CS-SUNN has spearheaded various nutrition interventions across the country.

Despite these collective efforts, malnutrition continues to pose a significant threat to public health and the well-being of children in Nigeria. The latest data from the 2018 National Demographic Health Survey paints a grim picture for Bauchi State, with alarming rates of stunting, wasting, underweight, and even overweight among children.

Mwaike emphasized the urgent need for action to address these troubling statistics and tackle the root causes of malnutrition. One of the key obstacles hindering progress in this area is the issue of inadequate funding, which remains a major challenge for organizations like CS-SUNN striving to eliminate malnutrition in Nigeria.

The fight against malnutrition is far from over, and CS-SUNN is calling for increased support and resources to ensure the health and well-being of Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations. Join us in this critical mission to safeguard the future of our children and create a healthier, more prosperous nation for all.
