The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has taken decisive action by dismissing two senior staff members of the state-owned Bauchi Radio Corporation for alleged misconduct. Hauwa Adamu Kardam and Halima Umar, both Chief Production Assistants at the radio corporation, were let go due to serious misconduct that violated the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327.
This decision was made during the 13th plenary session of the civil service commission, where the cases of Kardam and Umar were presented by the Central Recruitment Agency of the Commission on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Additionally, the commission lifted the suspension of three other officers of the radio station with immediate effect.
Furthermore, the Bauchi Civil Service Commission approved the issuance of warnings to three officers from the Programmes and Production departments of the radio house, including the head of the corporation, for dereliction of duty. In a similar vein, the commission lifted the suspension of a staff member from the state healthcare development agency and issued a letter of advice to the officer for contravening public service regulations.
It is worth noting that this is not the first instance of the civil service commission taking such disciplinary action. In August 2023, three civil servants were dismissed for financial fraud.
The actions taken by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission demonstrate their commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within the state’s public service sector. Such measures are essential for maintaining trust and efficiency in government operations.
