PDP Chieftain Bode George on Reconciling with Nyesom Wike: Settling Party Rifts for Unity

In a bid to mend fences within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), chieftain Bode George has revealed that the party is actively working towards reconciling its members, including the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike.

The rift between Wike and the PDP hierarchy emerged during the 2023 presidential election, where Wike and his G-5 group opted to support candidates outside the party, rather than PDP’s own Atiku Abubakar. This decision caused a significant division within the party, leading to the removal of former National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

However, George emphasized that the party is committed to resolving the aftermath of the election and bringing unity back to the party. Despite Wike’s current position under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, he recently attended a PDP National Executive Council meeting, signaling a potential willingness to mend fences.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, George highlighted the establishment of a committee to conduct a post-mortem analysis of the election and address lingering grievances. He stressed the importance of moving forward as a party and resolving internal conflicts internally, rather than in the public eye.

“We are not looking to assign blame or engage in public disputes. The PDP is focused on resolving our internal issues in a manner befitting of a family,” George affirmed.

As the PDP navigates through this challenging period, the party remains steadfast in its commitment to unity and reconciliation amongst its members. The efforts to mend relationships and rebuild trust within the party are crucial steps towards a stronger and more cohesive PDP moving forward.
