The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) recently held its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, where they addressed various pressing issues affecting the nation. Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, outlined 15 key resolutions made during the meeting in a communique.
The party criticized the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu for the economic and security crises plaguing the country. The NEC meeting highlighted the challenges faced by the nation and the party, emphasizing the need for unity and stability despite the obstacles.
NEC commended the resilience of all party organs and members, particularly the youth and women, for standing against the divisive tactics of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The party expressed concerns over the deteriorating security situation, economic hardships, rising unemployment, and overall despair felt across the country.
The NEC condemned the APC government for its perceived incompetence, insensitivity, and authoritarian tendencies, calling for urgent action to address the security and economic challenges. They demanded President Tinubu to convene a special National Security Council meeting and revamp the economic team to tackle the issues effectively.
Additionally, NEC called for a review of government policies that are exacerbating the economic struggles of citizens, such as fuel price hikes, electricity tariff increases, and burdensome taxation. The party urged all members to prioritize the collective goal of returning the PDP to power for the betterment of Nigerians and the advancement of democracy.
In line with their commitment to party stability and progress, NEC approved the timetable for party congresses nationwide, reconstituted the Party Disciplinary and Reconciliation Committees, and extended the life of the Party Constitution Amendment Committee. The efforts of the National Working Committee in rebranding the party, including the new PDP logo, were also acknowledged and endorsed.
Overall, NEC emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among party members to ensure the success of the PDP and the preservation of democracy in Nigeria. The call to action is clear – it is time to work together towards a better future for all Nigerians.
