The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, has made a strong commitment to combatting terrorism, kidnapping, and other criminal activities that are contributing to insecurity in Nigeria. Speaking at the COAS first quarter conference in Abuja, Lagbaja emphasized the importance of courage and innovation in the face of adversity.

He reassured the Nigerian people that the Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, is dedicated to protecting lives and properties across the country. Lagbaja urged law-abiding citizens to support the Army in creating a safe and prosperous environment for all.

Acknowledging the fear that their adversaries thrive on, Lagbaja emphasized the need to counteract this fear and take control of the situation. He commended the personnel in leadership positions for their dedication during this challenging period in Nigeria’s history.

In a new initiative, the Department of Army Operations and Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps will provide briefings to division commanders to align them with the Army Headquarters’ expectations. Lagbaja also highlighted the importance of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of senior officers, while reminding them that postings are a routine part of military life.

To enhance communication and coordination, a team led by the Chief of Operations will debrief formation commanders within 10 days of handover, with the aim of improving security, welfare, and morale within the formations.

Overall, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja’s message is clear: the Nigerian Army is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its citizens, and will not hesitate to take action against those who threaten the nation’s security.
