APC Ondo Vanguard Alleges Manipulation in Delegates’ Congress

The Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, a faction within the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised concerns about the upcoming governorship primaries in the state. They are unhappy with the decision not to hold a delegates’ congress before the primaries, fearing that this could lead to manipulation of the process.

The group has accused the committee responsible for revalidating the party’s membership in the state of not being present at the congress venues. They claim that figures were allocated to give the impression that the delegates’ congress had taken place, raising doubts about the integrity of the process.

Tade Ogidan, the Chairman of the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance, has called for urgent intervention from President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC to prevent a potential crisis within the party in the state. He highlighted discrepancies in the use of result sheets and the absence of designated ward election officers, questioning the transparency of the exercise.

In response to these allegations, Kayode Fasua, the Director of Information for the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS), emphasized that the party had laid out the process for the primary election in the state. He urged those with concerns to seek clarification from the party, stating that they were fully prepared for the upcoming primaries.

As the tension mounts within the APC in Ondo State, the outcome of the governorship primaries remains uncertain. Will the party be able to address the concerns raised by the Ondo Vanguard for Good Governance and ensure a fair and transparent election process? Only time will tell.
