In a powerful speech, Gen. Danjuma stressed the importance of unity and harmony, stating that without peace, development would remain elusive. He lamented the current state of affairs in Nigeria, where internal conflicts and violence have tarnished the country’s reputation on the global stage.

The Nwonyo International Fishing and Cultural Festival, a celebration of Jukun cultural heritage, serves as a symbol of unity and diversity, bringing together communities from different backgrounds. Gen. Danjuma praised the efforts of the Taraba Government and event organizers for reviving the festival and promoting cultural values.

The event was graced by Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, who highlighted the festival’s role in fostering unity among neighboring states. He commended Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba for his commitment to preserving cultural traditions, emphasizing the importance of culture in maintaining peace.

Governor Kefas reiterated the significance of the festival in promoting justice and peace among various groups in the state. He expressed gratitude to Gen. Danjuma, Governor Fintiri, Deputy Governor Sam Odeh of Benue, and other dignitaries for their presence at the event.

The festival, which kicked off on Friday, will culminate in a fishing competition on Saturday, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the region. Let us heed Gen. Danjuma’s call for peace and unity, and strive towards a brighter future for Nigeria.
