During a courtesy visit by the Senate Committee, led by Chairman Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, Governor Fubara highlighted the construction of the Woji-Aleto-Alesa-Refinery Road, which is nearing completion and will provide easier access to the refinery while alleviating traffic from the East-West Road.

Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of governance in improving the lives of Nigerians, stating that the refinery’s revival will lead to a reduction in importation, economic growth, increased revenue, and more development projects in the state. He commended the Senate Committee for their investigation, which aims to benefit the people.

Despite challenges and distractions, Governor Fubara assured that his administration remains focused on delivering for the people of Rivers State. He emphasized the need for integrity in politics and prioritizing the interests of the people above all else.

Senator Ubah, representing Anambra South Senatorial District, highlighted the Senate’s resolution to ensure Nigeria’s refineries are operational to reduce dependency on imported petroleum products. He expressed confidence in the progress of the Port Harcourt Refinery’s rehabilitation, expecting it to be fully operational soon.

The visit to the Port Harcourt Refinery is part of the Senate Committee’s efforts to assess the refinery’s readiness and compliance with contract specifications. The anticipated revival of the refinery is a significant step towards achieving self-sufficiency in petroleum production in Nigeria.

The journey towards revitalizing the Port Harcourt Refinery reflects a collective commitment to improving the country’s energy sector and enhancing the lives of its citizens. As the refinery prepares to recommence operations, the future looks promising for Nigeria’s energy independence and economic growth.
