Nigerian Army Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Recover Firearms in Borno and Nasarawa

The Nigerian Army announced on Saturday that its troops had carried out successful clearance and search operations in Borno and Nasarawa states, resulting in the elimination of terrorists and the recovery of firearms.

According to a statement released on its official handle, the Army, in collaboration with hybrid forces, conducted the operations on April 19 in Kana Village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, and various parts of Nasarawa State.

During the operation, troops engaged with terrorists in Nguma Village, resulting in the neutralization of two terrorists in a gun battle. Additionally, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, one motorbike, six bicycles, and other items abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. The clearance operation is still ongoing in the area.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops acted on credible intelligence in Nasarawa State, conducting a cordon-and-search operation in suspected criminal hideouts around Abuni Village in Awe Local Government Area. This operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, and 35 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.

The statement highlighted the arrest of suspects, including Mr. Abdullahi Musa, whose residence yielded the recovered weapons. The Army emphasized the importance of public support in providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations and ensure the safety and security of the populace.

These successful operations underscore the commitment of the troops to safeguarding the community and combating terrorism. The Nigerian Army, along with other security agencies, continues to rely on the cooperation of the public in maintaining peace and security in the region.
