The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, has complied with a recent executive order by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule. The order outlawed ethnic vigilante groups, and in response, the Miyetti Allah group returned a significant amount of militia equipment to the state police.
According to a statement by Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the returned items included:
- 267 pairs of uniforms
- 102 black belts
- 189 infantry lanyards
- 564 black berets
- 339 black and white lanyards
- 2 identification cards
The Police Commissioner urged any remaining groups to comply with the ban within the two-week deadline. They assured full enforcement of the order.
This development comes amidst controversy surrounding the vigilante group’s formation. Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, the Miyetti Allah leader, is currently facing terrorism charges for establishing the group. In a confessional statement, Bodejo alleged that Governor Sule provided N15 million for uniforms and another N15 million for mobilization and launching the group, but claims he only received half the latter amount.
