Son of Celestial Church Founder Defends Polygamy

Olatosho Oshoffa, son of the founder of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), has sparked fresh debate over polygamy in the church. Oshoffa defends his late father’s practice of having multiple wives, arguing that the Bible doesn’t explicitly forbid it.

Oshoffa, the shepherd of CCC International Headquarters, defends his father, the church’s founder, who had 13 wives and 53 children. He argues that the Bible doesn’t restrict prophets from having multiple wives and highlights his father’s calling despite having three wives beforehand. Oshoffa criticizes “men of God” with one wife who may have hidden relationships, suggesting his father’s honesty is preferable.

He emphasizes the strong family bond fostered by his father, who raised all children together as “children of Oshoffa,” not of individual mothers.

Oshoffa acknowledges the leadership crisis within the CCC following the founder’s passing. He compares it to the struggles after Jesus’s departure and early Catholic Church leadership disputes.

Despite the ongoing conflict, Oshoffa declares his eldest brother, Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa, as the rightful leader, based in Imeko, Ketu, and Makoko (church headquarters).

While defending his father’s legacy, Oshoffa expresses hope for a resolution to the leadership crisis within the Celestial Church of Christ.
