Tinubu Media Support Group Calls for Yahaya Bello to Cooperate with EFCC

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has publicly urged Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, to comply with the advice of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, by presenting himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for investigation. This call comes amid allegations of financial malfeasance against Bello during his tenure as governor.

In a statement released on Sunday by TMSG Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, the group emphasized the importance of Bello’s cooperation in upholding the integrity of the legal process and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption campaign. “The former governor’s standoff with the EFCC undermines the sanctity of the law and the administration’s commitment to eradicating corruption,” said Nwankpa.

The group also criticized attempts to politicize the EFCC’s invitation as a routine enforcement of accountability. They highlighted that Bello, as a senior member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), should have no reservations about submitting to EFCC’s scrutiny, which aligns with the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

The statement concluded with an appeal to other APC members to support the anti-corruption efforts and to trust in the legal processes, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to transparency and accountability in governance.
