NSCDC Arrests Doctor Who Trains Other Doctors for N5000

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, apprehended a 32-year-old man, Oladiti Saheed Toyin, for impersonating a medical doctor, leading to a tragic incident.

Commandant Michael Adaralewa disclosed in a statement, relayed by spokesperson Adeleke Kehinde, that Toyin, residing in Ororuwo, Boripe Local Government Area, was falsely presenting himself as a medical practitioner.

Allegedly, Toyin attended to a pregnant woman during childbirth, resulting in her demise.

According to Adaralewa, the suspect, with only a Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) qualification, operated an unlicensed clinic for over six years. He also trained individuals as unqualified medical personnel in his facility.

Toyin admitted to attending to a pregnant woman on April 15, 2024, at his clinic, OLORUNTOYIN CLINIC, after she encountered issues at her previous hospital. Subsequently, complications arose after childbirth, leading to the woman’s death upon transfer to a licensed hospital.

Investigations unveiled Toyin’s involvement in training individuals as quack doctors, charging a fee of N5,000.

Adaralewa cited the violation of Section 343 (1e) of the Criminal Code Act, holding individuals accountable for endangering human life through negligent medical treatment.

Assuring the public of justice, Adaralewa urged caution when selecting medical facilities and encouraged reporting of suspected quackery for swift action.
