The Lagos State Police Command has made progress in the investigation of the fatal shooting of Toheeb Eniafe at a petrol station, revealing the identity of the responsible officer.
Eniafe was tragically shot during a dispute at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) filling station in Ikoyi after challenging security personnel for skipping the fuel queue.
Eyewitnesses recounted that Eniafe and other customers objected to the officers’ queue-jumping, sparking a confrontation that escalated when one of the officers, allegedly wearing Department of State Services (DSS) customised attire, opened fire and fled.
Contrary to initial suspicions, the DSS denied involvement in the incident.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the shooter is a police officer serving at the Special Protection Unit, SPU Base 17, Lion Building, Lagos.
Hundeyin assured ongoing investigation and collaboration with the deceased’s family to ensure justice prevails and prevent any miscarriage of justice.
