Senator Magnus Abe, former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Rivers State, announced his reconciliation with Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State, putting an end to their longstanding feud.
The reconciliation comes after a period of intense political differences between Abe and Wike, stemming from conflicting positions on state matters.
Abe, who initially left the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the governorship under the SDP in the 2023 election but later returned to the APC, clarified that he remains a member of the APC in Rivers State. However, he expressed his intention to mend fences with Wike in a bid to foster unity within the party.
In a statement posted on his verified Facebook account, Abe emphasized his commitment to genuine reconciliation, highlighting his support for the Chief Tony Okocha-led caretaker committee in the state. Notably, Okocha and other members of the committee are aligned with Wike, despite his affiliation with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abe acknowledged Wike’s direct and sincere approach to reconciliation, expressing gratitude for the minister’s efforts in facilitating the peace process. He emphasized the importance of unity within the APC in Rivers State, underscoring the need to extinguish internal conflicts for the party’s collective benefit.
