Tinubu’s Extended Trip Sparks Speculation

After attending the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Special Meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yet to return to Nigeria, raising speculation about his whereabouts.

The two-day forum, focusing on global collaboration, growth, and energy for development, concluded on April 29, 2024, but Tinubu has not made his way back to Nigeria since then.

While the Presidency has remained silent on the matter, there are speculations that Tinubu may have travelled to Paris, France, where he has previously sought medical treatment. However, credible sources have disclosed that the President is currently in London on a private visit.

One high-ranking official at the Presidency confirmed Tinubu’s presence in London but declined to provide further details, citing the private nature of the visit. Another official reassured the public that there was no cause for alarm regarding the President’s whereabouts and assured that he would return to Nigeria over the weekend.

Tinubu’s recent travels began with an official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands on April 23, where he engaged in high-level discussions with Prime Minister Mark Rutte and other dignitaries. He then proceeded to participate in the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum. Following his visit to the Netherlands, Tinubu attended the special WEF meeting in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, aiming to address global challenges such as the energy transition and geopolitical shocks.
