The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) delivers decisive blows to insurgents in Borno and Niger, as air operations under Operations Hadin Kai and Whirl Punch yield significant results. AVM Edward Gabkwet, NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, confirms the success of airstrikes in neutralizing terrorists and dismantling their infrastructure, thereby bolstering security in the regions.
In Borno, airstrikes on May 3 targeted Chinene, nestled within the Mandara Mountain, where terrorists were observed gathering for a meeting. Seven gun trucks concealed under trees were among the targets obliterated, severely disrupting insurgent activities.
Simultaneously, Operation Whirl Punch’s air component conducts preemptive strikes in Allawa village, Niger, following intelligence indicating terrorist presence post-mass exodus of locals. The strikes effectively thwart terrorist encroachment and neutralize threats posed by armed groups, reinforcing safety in the area.
Additionally, NAF’s proactive measures extend to the Niger Delta, where illegal refining sites in Arugbana and Temakiri are targeted and destroyed. This strategic action not only curtails oil theft but also safeguards critical infrastructure from sabotage, bolstering efforts to maintain stability and security in the region.
