Head Camera to Be Worn by Referee in Crystal Palace vs Man U Match

Referee Jarred Gillett is set to don a camera during Monday’s Premier League showdown between Crystal Palace and Manchester United, officials have revealed.

The Premier League clarified that the camera’s footage won’t be broadcast live but will be integrated into a program scheduled to air later in the year. This initiative aims to provide additional insight and education into the challenges of officiating in English football’s top tier.

Gillett will wear a head-mounted device, which will be part of the standard referee communication system for significant fixtures.

The one-time use of the camera has received approval from the sport’s governing body, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), as well as the Premier League, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), and the participating clubs.

In a statement, the Premier League expressed gratitude to Crystal Palace and Manchester United for their cooperation with this project.
