Tinubu’s Aide Denies Nigerian Officials Demanded Bribery from Binance

An aide to Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has refuted claims made by the CEO of cryptocurrency giant Binance, Richard Teng, regarding alleged bribery demands from Nigerian officials.

Teng stated in a blog post on Binance’s website that Nigerian officials conveyed the demand for bribery through the company’s Nigerian lawyers. According to Teng, the officials requested a “secret payment” to be made in cryptocurrency within 48 hours.

In response, Tinubu’s aide on social media, Dada Olusegun, dismissed the allegations, urging Nigerians to scrutinize such claims. “Any Nigerian who believes they are a patriot and believes this bullcrap should check themselves,” Olusegun stated on X.

Teng noted that Binance declined the payment demand via their legal representatives, deeming it an illegitimate settlement offer.
