Yobe Governor’s Aide Claims PDP Fears Defeat in Upcoming Local Elections

Yusuf Ali, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Buni on Digital and Strategic Communications, has publicly criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State for deciding to boycott the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for May 25, 2024. According to Ali, the opposition party’s decision stems from an anticipated defeat rather than political strategy.

In a statement released to the press, Ali ridiculed the PDP’s choice, suggesting that their lack of a viable plan and poor public perception foretells their poor performance in the upcoming polls. He accused the PDP of engaging in blackmail and avoiding the necessary grassroots campaigning that could potentially rehabilitate their image.

Ali further defended the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YBSIEC), asserting that it has been transparent and committed to ensuring that the local government elections are conducted fairly and credibly. He emphasized that all political parties have been properly informed about the election schedule, countering any claims of unfair practices.
