Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan delivered an outstanding performance at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational on Sunday, securing a resounding victory in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Amusan showcased her prowess on the track by clocking a season’s best time of 12.40 seconds to clinch the top spot in the highly competitive race.
The 27-year-old athlete outpaced her rivals, including Jamaica’s Danielle Williams, who finished closely behind with a time of 12.46 seconds. Christina Clemons of the United States of America claimed the third position, crossing the finish line in 12.54 seconds.
With this remarkable achievement, Amusan has ascended to the top of the world rankings, surpassing American Tonea Marshall, who previously held the world lead with a time of 12.42 seconds set in late April.
The Jamaica Athletics Invitational, recognized as a Continental Tour-Silver meet, provided a platform for athletes to showcase their talents and compete against top contenders from around the world.
Hailing from Ogun State, Nigeria, Amusan has etched her name in history as the World, Commonwealth, and African record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles.
