Taraba Community Accuses Council Boss of Igniting Conflict

Members of Garin Barau village in the Zudai District of Bali Local Government Council in Taraba State have levelled serious accusations against the council chairman, Aboki Dauda.

According to the community leader, Mallam Abdul Hassan, the ongoing tension stems from the forceful confiscation of land by the council chairman. Despite previous directives from Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas and the state chairman of the council of chiefs, Adda Alli, emphasizing the importance of resolving land disputes through proper channels, the council boss allegedly disregarded protocol by failing to involve traditional rulers in resolving land matters within his jurisdiction.

This situation has further aggravated the tension1. In response, the chairman defended his actions, claiming that the contested land originally fell under the Kaigama Chiefdom, despite being inhabited by people of Jibu extraction.

He maintained that his actions align with the policies of the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
