Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the construction of a flyover at the Imo State University (IMSU) Junction to address traffic issues following a fatal accident that claimed over ten lives.

Speaking through his media aide, Ikenna Onuoha, Anyanwu emphasized that a flyover or standard roundabout would prevent recurring accidents at the junction. He criticized the government’s inaction over the past five years, during which the IMSU Junction has been a hotspot for traffic incidents.

Anyanwu condemned the APC administration for neglecting citizens’ safety, stating, “If the present government in the State is proactive and has the interest of the citizens at heart, the first thing it would have done is to identify areas that affect the citizens and urgently proffer solutions to them.”

He highlighted the danger faced by students and lecturers waiting for transportation at the junction, urging the state government to prioritize this issue over less important projects.

Anyanwu expressed his condolences to the families affected by the recent tragedy and prayed for strength for those grieving their loss.
