In a recent announcement at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Las Vegas, Tesla Semi Senior Manager Dan Priestley revealed that the Tesla Semi fleet has accumulated 3.5 million miles, including real-world applications. This milestone highlights the electric truck’s remarkable efficiency, operating at 1.7 kWh per mile, which is 65% more efficient than traditional gas-powered rivals. This achievement marks a significant step in Tesla’s mission to revolutionize the trucking industry with sustainable and efficient solutions.

During the event, Priestley also announced the delivery of an additional 50 Tesla Semi trucks to PepsiCo Inc., increasing the company’s total fleet to 86 units. This expansion underscores PepsiCo’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and transitioning to sustainable transportation solutions. The Tesla Semi has been operational with PepsiCo since December 2022, with the company utilizing the electric trucks for deliveries of Frito-Lay products.

Tesla plans to produce 50,000 Semis annually at its Nevada facility in the initial phase, with broader customer availability expected by 2026. The Tesla Semi Charging Network, featuring megawatt charging speeds, is already operational, supporting the efficient operation of the growing electric truck fleet. This development represents a significant step towards a greener future for the trucking industry, demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of electric vehicles in large-scale commercial applications.
