Speed Darlington Advises Against Marrying Igbo Women

Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has reversed his stance on his preference for Igbo ladies as potential wives. Initially, he had stated that fluency in the Igbo language was a crucial criterion for his future spouse. However, in a recent video shared on his social media, Darlington advised eligible bachelors against marrying Igbo women, alleging they are not suitable for marriage.

Darlington claimed that Igbo women are “proud and promiscuous,” and urged men to avoid them. He stated, “This message is for my brothers who are planning to marry. Listen to me, you are not more exposed than I am. My job makes me travel a lot. So, I think I’m very qualified to give this advice. Avoid Igbo girls, they’re not great for marriage. I am an Igbo guy and I am telling you about our girls. Avoid Igbo girls, they’re very greedy and unappreciative. They behave like black American women; nothing you give a black American lady is enough.”

He further compared Igbo women unfavourably to Yoruba and Hausa women, suggesting that Igbo women are overly proud and “the number one prostitutes in Nigeria.” He also accused most social media feminists of being Igbo women.

Darlington’s remarks have sparked backlash, with many criticizing him for projecting his frustrations onto Igbo women and generalizing his experiences.
