Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz Honored at the Gordon Parks Foundation Gala

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz were celebrated at the Gordon Parks Foundation gala in New York on Tuesday. After receiving their awards, Keys reflected on their 14-year marriage, highlighting how they continually inspire each other in their creative endeavours.

“Since the moment we met, there’s been this mutual inspiration in our creative processes. We constantly uplift and motivate each other just by being ourselves,” Keys expressed, praising her husband’s brilliance.

In addition to Keys and Beatz, the gala honoured Colin Kaepernick, the late Richard Roundtree, and Myrlie Evers-Williams. The event drew notable guests and presenters such as Usher, Gayle King, Tim Reid, and Ben Stiller.

The Gordon Parks Foundation Award acknowledges individuals who deeply value the arts and their power to inspire future generations.

Gordon Parks, renowned as one of the twentieth century’s greatest photographers, captured the essence of race relations, poverty, and civil rights in his work. He made history as the first Black person to write and direct a major feature film, “The Learning Tree,” in 1969, and later helmed the iconic ’70s film “Shaft.” Beyond filmmaking, Parks was also recognized as a music composer, author, and activist.
