FCT Minister Vows to Tackle Criminal Elements in Abuja

During the Ministerial Sectoral Updates commemorating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first year in office, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike made a resolute pledge to root out criminal elements from the nation’s capital, Abuja.

At the session, which included prominent ministers like Senator Atiku Bagudu, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim Bio, and Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Wike addressed concerns about the harassment faced by Nigerians and visitors from touts in the city.

Wike emphasized the need for collaboration with the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), proposing the formation of a committee and a dedicated account to streamline revenue collection. By centralizing the process, he aims to curb touting, harassment, and instances of double taxation.

While acknowledging the immediacy of the issue, Wike assured that efforts would be made to swiftly address the problem and eliminate the presence of criminal elements in Abuja, underscoring the shared responsibility of the FCT administration.
